Immune-mediated polyarthritis (IMPA) is a common orthopaedic presenting condition but can affect many body systems giving rise to numerous clinical presentations. Even once IMPA has been diagnosed, there is the challenge of deciding if this is a primary autoimmune disease or a consequence of another focus of inflammation requiring identification. Treatment can vary and relapse is common, and deciding on the best treatment option can be a difficult process This lecture will address these questions and the clinical decision making with the evidence (or lack thereof!) behind them.
